About Zions Bank Real Academy
The Zions Bank Real Academy training center – home of the USL Real Monarchs, which opens its new, 5,000-seat Zions Bank Stadium home on March 31 – offers opportunities for high school, college and adult recreational soccer activity, as well as varying levels of rugby, lacrosse and other sports.
RSL Owner Dell Loy Hansen believes that the Herriman-based Zions Bank Real Academy provides a unique community gathering place, providing aspiration and inspiration to develop local talent on and off the field, and ultimately training that talent to an elite level, leading to stronger community connection and all types of success.
In the southwest corner of the Salt Lake valley, Zions Bank Real Academy amenities include a total of eight fields including the Stadium, with four natural grass surfaces dedicated to Real Salt Lake/Monarchs/Academy use alongside one Herriman City community field. Two of the artificial fields are housed in the Zions Bank Training Center‘s iconic 208,000 square-foot indoor structure, the largest pre-engineered free-span building in North America.
Atop the main structure is a solar panel array from Utah’s own Auric Solar, at roughly half the size of its Rio Tinto Stadium installation. Daily hours at the indoor facility are dedicated to public use, with the two indoor fields and the Zions Bank Stadium pitch utilizing a state-of-the-art artificial surface from The Netherlands.
Included on the campus of this world-class Zions Bank Real Academy is the RSL Academy High School, a 300-student STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) charter school developed in conjunction with Jordan School District. Designed to accommodate 300 students across 77,000 square feet of classrooms and a 90-acre campus and intended to serve as what Hansen calls the “Harvard of Soccer,” the charter school will host approximately 50 students from out-of-state, with these students boarded on-site in a satellite structure. Adjacent to that structure are facilities to house visiting USL Real Monarchs’ opponents, visiting academy teams, and facilities able to host international delegations visiting the area for events at both Zions Bank Stadium and Rio Tinto Stadium.
